Acids Co., Ltd. was established in February 2003 through a merger of the sulfuric acid businesses of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and Dowa Mining Co., Ltd. (currently Dowa Holdings Co., Ltd.), Japan’s two major smelting manufacturers.
Our mission is to contribute to the chemical industries of Japan and other countries, and to support the growth of the smelting business through sales of sulfuric acid — a chemical product that plays a vital role in supporting people’s daily lives. With a worldwide demand and supply of around 300 million tons, sulfuric acid is the most-produced chemical product in the world. Sulfuric acid is used in a wide variety of fields including food, pharmaceuticals, fiber and metallurgy, and its demand has grown as civilization has advanced. We serve the needs of our customers in Japan, supported by a stable logistics network covering most of the country from Hokkaido in the north to Kagoshima Prefecture in the south. Our overseas business is centered on supplying sulfuric acid to the Philippines for nickel smelting.
Amidst changing business environments, we will continue to work on the consistent and safe provision of sulfuric acid in view of the important role it plays in human life, to respond precisely to diverse needs, and to prosper together with our valued partners and stakeholders.
